Help manage a biodiversity experiment by removing undesired plant species from scientific plots, but be sure to not pull up plants that are part of the experiment.

As you play, every plant actively grows and reproduces. Combined with a time limit, this means you must act quickly and strategically.

If the time runs out or if you pull up three plants that are supposed to be in the plot, you lose.

In each plot, the following information is displayed at the top (listed from left to right):

  • plant species you shouldn't pull (sometimes there are none)
  • number of weeds remaining
  • number of mistakes remaining
  • time remaining

Controls:

  • Move: WASD or Arrow Keys
  • Pull plant: Space (hold)
  • Go back: Escape
  • Select: Enter

I originally made this game in 2013 using Java and the Slick2D library. It was based on the job I had at the time, and the intended audience was my coworkers. The job was seasonal, therfore I had a limited amount of time to put it together. I managed to get the essentials implemented, but some features and polish never made it into the game.

After picking up the Godot game engine, I decided to use it to recreate this game to better learn the engine and to more easily share this game with others. The initial publishing on itch.io matches the original 2013 version exactly. However, there may be future updates to add features and polish.
